we spent most of the weekend eating pie and sausage rolls, drinking tea and recording lovely people for tapes 1. it should be available for April 1 (no joke).
for those of you that haven’t yet, go and sign up to be kept uptodate with everything and anything here http://www.tapes-online.co.uk
many, many, many thanks to everyone who gave their time over the weekend, it was awesome!
due to various logistical awfulnesses we’re not going to be able to feature Jason Steel this month, however in his rather large shoes we hope to put the brilliant Josie Vanders http://www.myspace.com/vandersmusic who is ACE plus it means that tapes 1 will be less of a full-on man-fest

Sigur Ros – með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
So joyful and beautiful, in shedloads, at the same time. A proper evolution for a band that were in danger of becoming stuck in a rut. And for perhaps the first time it sounded like music made by people, not some ethereal ‘other’ beings. It was honest and to the point in a way they seemed to have deliberately avoided in the past. The best album of 2008 in my opinion.
in a similar, joyful, icelandic vein:
múm – go, go smear the poison ivy
